You can be talking to a general surgeon with no plastic surgery training yet who offers rhinoplasty procedures.
Make sure that you ask your plastic surgeon if he is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, as this is the only certifying board officially recognized in the USA.

Tip #3: Check out the plastic surgery specialist’s experience.

Some cosmetic surgeons specialize in breast procedures, while others are more versed in full body procedures like tummy tucks and mommy makeovers.

When looking for a plastic surgeon, you should look at his wealth of experience on the specific procedure that you are planning to get. Ask him about his training on that procedure, how many years he has been doing it, and how many times he has performed it.

Tip #4: Choose a plastic surgeon who has a good aesthetic sense.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that rings true even for plastic surgery.

Take a look at before and after photos of your plastic surgeon’s previous patients to see if you like his aesthetic sense. Make sure that you pay close attention to patients that have similar qualities to you – like same facial structure, same concerns, same breast size, and same body shape.

It’s also important to know where your procedure will be performed, as this is essential for your safety. Some plastic surgeons have their own operating facilities in their clinics, while others go to accredited hospitals to perform the procedure.

If your surgery won’t be performed in an ideal setting like a hospital, ask your cosmetic surgeon what the facility is and whether it’s duly certified by the AAAASF, AAAHC, or JCAHO.

Tip #6: Consider your plastic surgeon’s staff as well.

Once you decide to get plastic surgery, you won’t be dealing with your plastic surgeon alone. In fact, you might find yourself interacting with his staff more, which is why you need to feel comfortable with your surgeon’s team as well.

The staff should be friendly and helpful to you. Other professionals should be registered as well, like your nurse and anesthesiologist. Look for a board-certified anesthesiologist or a certified registered nurse anesthetist to administer your anesthesia.
